Survived the squint op...

Postby Paul Osborne » Wed 11 Jun 2008 8:52 pm

In the ongoing battle to get working vision, yesterday was squint op day.

My left eye instead of diverging significantly now points slightly inwards (to allow muscle relaxing over time according to the surgeon) and consquently my vision is no longer panorama vision but instead has the normal range.

Still feeling rather groggy from the general, the stitch adjustment under the local was fine, eye hurts rather (but that is to be expected) and is very bloodshot. Also my spacial awareness is completely shot using my left eye (I can choose which I use) and I keep trying to veer right - I should adapt to this over time apparently.

Have taken a picture with my macro lens, note that it is not for the squeamish - you can also still see the remaining stitches from the cornea transplant of a couple of years ago.

If you want to look please cut and paste the above link - I don't want the squeamish to look accidently and then want to tell me off!

Anyway I have follow up on Monday with the squint surgeon and orthoptist and then see the cornea surgeon on Thursday for a regular followup to the cornea transplant.

Regards to all

Paul

Paul

Groovy photo; that looks like a really neat suture.

I like the way you classify your surgeons: cornea surgeon, squint surgeon ... ... ...

All the best

Andrew
