Pre-Op Assesment

Postby Matthew_ » Fri 09 Nov 2007 9:31 pm

Hi everyone,
I had my pre-op assment this week. It was very good. A Nurse explained everything about the op, which was great. Nurses are soooo much better at explaining what is going to happen. :D
Anyway a quick and unbelievably cursory health check followed and some time with the consultant. The doctors were happy to let my wife come along which was excellent as we had to bring my 3 year old too. He got a shot of the stethescope so he was happy! :D
Anyway after this they did scans of my eyes and photos. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to discuss the scans with the doctors to ascertain what they mean. I am posting them here just in case anyone can explain them for me. I understand that green/blue is normal and the closer to red the colour gets, the steeper the cone. I can see that the cone is fairly central but I do not understand the figures on the side. Its my left eye that will be grafted as I cannot tolerate lenses. I am worse than 6/60 in that eye whilst the right is not too bad (6/36)

Turn your head to the left and cough

All the best Matthew. don't expect instant results but you are on the way.

Andrew,
That was about the long and short of it. Still, a very productive afternoon.
Thanks for your kind words.
