prescription before and after intacs and c3-r

Postby dplees » Wed 03 Oct 2007 6:13 pm

i had intacs in May 2007 after which my prescription was as follows:
sphere -1, cyl -4, axis 82.5, dist 6/9-1, near N5

my prescription a year before intacs was
sphere -0.75, cyl -4, axis 80, dist 6/7.5, near N5

Would it appear the that my eyes have got worse after intacs?

Could someone also tell me if C3-R on top of my intacs could further improve my vision. I've read good things about c3-r but does it matter that i am considering having it 6 months after my intacs were implanted?

I understand that it is difficult to answer my questions, however i am desperate to be able to read with 2 eyes.

dplees,

My undersatning of any surgery is that the aim to to provide a surface that is easier to correct. At an intacs presentation the Birmingham group were given one case study showed initialy vision was worse, but as time went on and vision had properly stabilised at about 12 months (stabilisation time differed between patients), the vision was uncorrected was far better and the prescription consequently less.

I know C3R has been done on people with intacs, but unaware of the outcomes or numbers of people this has been tried on.

None of this comes with a guarantee of success. I guess that we have to weigh the probabilities in making our decisions about whether to accept any interventions.

I hope your sight does improve.

I've been to lots of places and I've found http://www.centreforsight.com by far the best, I had issues with treatment that I received from another clinic where i received intacs, i was eventually referred to Sheraz Daya at Centre For Sight for the precedure (I am going to ask for C3-R on my next visit). The price for C3-R is about £800 per eye.

Tim,

You only get one eye at a time done, so as long as you can cope with the vision you currently have in one eye you may not need much time off work.

That is a question for the consultation.

So please let us know how you get on.
Gareth
