My advice would be to keep trying with your lenses i too have KC in both eyes and my right is my worst (transplant in 2 months) ive had so many lenses over the past 10 yrs small ones large ones soft one hard ones i still have my large lenses in both eyes yet they dont do anything anymore for my vision as im registered p/sighted but i still wear them (when i can) as my eyes dont feel right without them so in time they do become comfy.

I was dx with KC at 18yrs and i and many other will have thought the same at the time 'I CANT WEAR THESE' take the challenge and WIN as you benefit from the good vision in the end

thanks for that emma,i dont like weraing it in both eyes just my right eye,some days i can wear it without problems then other days its really uncomfortable,how anyone can get used to a big hard contact lens which fills the whole eye is behond me lol

Have you tried smaller lenses, RGP lenses? Also it depends on the graft as to why this person had it done. Did they have KC?

ive tryed smaller lenses they fall out doctor said it was due to scaring on my eye

i never asked if he had kerataconus just asked if he'd had a cornea transplant lol

this may sound stupid but does anyone else get this if i put my finger under my eye and squint a little it makes my vision abit better?

hi, this is all quite intersting although i was diagnosed when 13 with KC in both eyes i have manged up until now with lenses. i wuld really reccommend u stick with them- have u tried the smaller lenses that only cover the coloured section of your eye? im now 18 and going to uni in the summer, im going to have to have a graft this summer and have been told that, it will make my sight better and yes it would maybe be possible to wear glasses- however u wouldnt be able to play football, after a graft any blow to your eye could leave u blind, so especially if you headed the ball this would be very dangerous, im a keen hockey player and have told its unlikey after that graft i will play unless i wear goggles and yes with being 18 and into fashion i am like gahhhd im not wearing them lol.but i suppose when it comes down to it, you wil do what ever you can to try and lead a normal life.

Maybe this graft wasn't done for KC in which case the vision would probably be better post surgery.

I had too much scarring on my left eye so couldn't wear a lens either, which is why I decided to have a graft done.

Yes there are many different ways in which we can see! I can pull the corner of my eye and see much better! Trouble is I can't go around like that all the time!!! Pin hole glasses are good as a temporary measure as well!

i dont get it tho if the contacts have sorted you out thsi time why have a graft?

i dotn wnat the graft now youve all put me off lol i wnat to wear contact lenses for the rest of my life im not stoppin football or anything else

Nobody here wants to put you off a graft: many of us have had them and they give us good sight.

the thing about the graft is that it is a last resort, after other things have come to the end.

why hav a graft i wish was that simple, i have had hydrops n now have scarring on my right eye n cant wear the lens any more, so im only wearing 1 lens n eventually that wil pack in so yeh its graft or nothing really, although apparently i can hav lazer but that tempory so yeh.
ahh sori 4 putting you off, but yeh if i had the choice i wud stick it out with the contacts!! mine took ages 2 settle down so stick with it hun!!
yeh thats wot im bummed about the graft obv uni= socialising hahaha so wich i cud stil hav my lenses cas u cant knock ur eye or anything so im gonan hav 2 be really carful o wel.

Hi. LOL!! I just realised that you wasn't talking to me! LOL!! But with my name being Claire I wasn't sure!! I have put my story anyway!!!

I had a graft done on my left eye which has never seen anything and has never been able to tolerate a lens because of scarring.

My right eye had problems a few years ago with lens problems, namely overwear which caused ulcers. Please don't panic with this, I was wearing my lens 18 hours a day, 7 days a week and doing shift work.

In the end after longterm sick I decided to have a graft on my bad eye but only to try to even them up more. I put off having a graft for so long as I believe that you really do need to try everything else first. I had tried most lenses though and couldn't see and the pain was terrible after just one hour.

Now I can see very well with a piggy back system where you have a plain soft lens with my RGP on the top and i have just received a lens for my grafted eye which is going really well!!

It does take time, but there are so many different lenses to try. Please think carefully before you think about having a graft as it really should be a last option.

i know fella to be fair i expected to ocme on here and people to tell me a graft would sort all my problems suppose its given me abit of a reality check

thing is i dont want to risk a graft because i go drinkin on a regular basis down town and sometiems you do tend to get into sticky siutaions where you might get punched you know how it is when your a lad,also it would affect football which i lvoe playing

im going have to get used to these lenses it will be hard but ill do it
