Had a few bad days recently...any thoughts

Postby Paul Morgan » Mon 09 Apr 2007 8:35 am

I have had a few bad days of late with my left eye particularly...wondered if anyone had any thoughts. :(

I seem to be getting pain which rests just behind the eye....a bit like a headache but not really a headache if you know what I mean.

I left the lenses out all day yesterday....I'm hoping that it is just overwearing or maybe a small infection or something like that.

I was getting to feel quite sick and a little dizzy/shaky at times.

I seem fine this morning, although I'm currently squinting through my old specs....not brave enough to pop the lenses back in quite yet.

Nothing has changed in the cleaning routine...

Does anyone recognise this...any thoughts or suggestions??

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul

I've felt like this at times and put it down to eye strain. You'll probably laugh at this but I try to 'relax' my eye with a quick regime adapted from a 'yoga for eyes' booklet. Lenses out, I cover my eye with my palm and sit totally relaxed for at least five minutes. Then with my eyes closed I gently make my eye look in different directions (I imagine my eye like a clock and look at 1 then 7, 11 then 5 etc). Hope this dosen't sound too mad. it works for me!

But I'm sure you should get this checked out if you are concerned.

Paul

Has the lens absence made a difference?....Overwearing may be a potential cause..
KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -

Jay

Yes it has...I gave myself about a day and a half off from lenses and managed OKish.

Seem to be OK now so I will have to be more careful in future.

hi paul

i have similar ""attacks" of bad eye days, often without any particular change in wearing regime, and find i have to leave the lens out for a few days which can be costly as i cant work without them , and then when i put them back in i start back at approx 8 hrs a day again and build up for a week to my more normal 12 - 14, by which time the eye settles down again

Mike

I've never yet missed work because of KC, although had it not been Easter when I had this problem, then I don't quite know what I'd have done.

My employers know about my KC, I have discussed it with them, but not sure what the reaction to time off sick for painful eye's...leading to no lenses...leading to sorry I can't see my screen...would be.

Anyway, lets hope I manage things better so I don't have to find out.

Thanks for your answer

Paul

hi paul
yeah when i get a bad eye day , it can often run into several days as i become extremely light sensitive like ,hide under the duvet in the dark until it goes away :( .
and as i am lens intolerant in my left eye (waiting for a graft) i rely heavily on my right.
hoping things stay ok for you

This does sound like overwearing. Please have a look at this excellent article on Good eye days and Bad eye days which should help to explain matters.
