Hi everyone
Haven't been on the site for a while due to different things.
Went to see my local contact lens clinic friday as my new lenses (acuity K type 2) didnt suit me, couldnt wear them and the pain. so he has suggested wearing my old lenses (Acuity K Type 1) them for shorter periods. HE is ordering me a new pair with different prescription. And has said he thinks the time has come for me to have the graft. apparently there is a lot of scarring.
The only thing is I have started a new job but am working 12 hr shift from 11 - 11.30 and dealing with money etc need my lenses in. But my eyes are so painful. I dont know really where i stand. I dont get much break at all at work even if i took them out.
Any ideas

Michelle,
Talk to your employer. Make sure that you take regular breaks away from your work, and try to take the lenses out for a while too.
Perhaps you could extend your wearing time by wearing only one lens at a time (it sounds ridiculous but...) or additional lubricating drops such as Systane or Celluvisc could help too.
Print off a copy of our employer's leaflet from the main site, and gently point out that your Keratoconus might be covered under the Disability Discrimination Act. I only say might, as we're all different, and have to be assessed by an occupational health doctor; but if you have much scarring the likelihood is that you would be covered in my opinion.
Above all, keep your chin up... and let us know how you get on.
All the best,

Do all that John has suggested; but also find another contact lens fitter!
There are so many different styles, sizes and materials for contact lenses these days that is is amazing that your fitter thinks that the best option is a return to something that has already proven inadequate, without trying any of the other options.

Just wanting to add that there are so many different lenses that it does take a while to find one that suits us!
I got on really well with my RGP for about 15 years but then started to get a painful red eye. Now i weat almost the same lens but as a piggy back with a soft lens and it is fantastic! Five hours has now turned into fifteen, as like you i work 12 hour shifts and need to be able to see.
Hoping that you can work something out soon and before you are pushed into having a graft. Take care.

Thanks guys. I am not going to give up. If the local hospital cant do much then i am going to try to get referred back to moorfields as i feel more happy with them. Maybe there are some more lenses out there that would fit me but need to go somewhere where its possible.
Re my job. There are other factors as well that are influencing my decision. So i have now got an interview on friday in my local town. Office hours. A lot better.
