Disappointed

Postby Val G » Tue 20 Mar 2007 7:35 pm

My hospital appointment was cancelled a couple of weeks ago and rescheduled for yesterday. I was really excited thinking I may get specs or a contact lens fitting (now 16 months post graft and cannot read the top line of the chart with my grafted eye). My consultant said the graft was looking fine they would see me in another 10 weeks or so, aarrrGGGHH!. I know I should be pleased that things are OK but I am getting so impatient and was really hoping for some improvement in my vision. I discussed having refraction earlier than this and he said he is happy for me to see an optician to try some specs as an interim measure. So it's off to specsavers on saturday. I'm not holding my breath, I think I'll need an RPG. Ho hum...

Val - I really feel for you! I had the same experience with my first graft of waiting ages for any benefit. But I did finally get some useful vision with glasses - not as good as I later got with an RGP for that eye, but a lot better than nothing. So I'll have all my fingers crossed that you will find glasses will bring some improvement.

I'm sorry Val,

I really hope that things soon change for the better and you have some better news on the horizon.

Val,

I know exactly what this is like! I had my graft in August 2005 and only now am I getting a lens! It is well worth the waiting though and I so hope that you get glasses soon.

Val, this is too bad; another couple of months is a road too far.

But when you look back on the time, if the outcome is good and your sight is clear, it will seem like an investment well worth making.

all the best; you are in our thoughts.
