This situation of the interests of KC patients not being adequately represented in the NHS system by the patient/customer reminds me of the challenging experience I faced when I was elected as a Parent School governor at my kids local County Council run Primary school.
Maybe these NHS centres of customer care need an inspection process similar to OFSTED with inspection teams comprising a patient, high level administrator and highly experiened and qualified eye consulant/optomestrist
calling at the centres without any notice so that they experience the delivery of the service that the patient gets first-hand.
This would supplement self help groups like ours just as PTAs are there to support schools.
