headaches

Postby Anne B » Mon 10 Apr 2006 7:40 am

Hi All

Over the last month i have been getting headaches. The pain is mainly around one eye normally the left (today its the right) i have pain around the ear on the same side.
About a month ago i had the pain so bad that if i moved i was sick. (a bit like motion sickness) I had the same on saturday. I had been out clubbing the night before so put it down to that, but realy it was so bad it can't of been.
Todayi have the pain again, but i am not sick but have had to take pain killers.
I did see my GP when i was bad the first time and he said it was blocked sinuses. I am more concerned it may be something to do with my eyes. I am using FML and opatanol drops.
What do you think?

Thanks Anne

Anne,

When i go clubbing I need to wear really dark glasses otherwise the flashing lights are too bright and give me headaches.

I can take a couple of days to recover if I have not got dark glasses. With the dark glasses mean I have no problems.

Think it is the way light gets scatterd around our eyes, light hits places we are not used to it being and mayes the nerves hypersinsitised.

Paracetomol or similar can help too.

Anne

do you have a history of Migraines? whatever, I'd make my way directly to the doc. No harm in getting it checked, any maybe something they can do

This could also be related to your ears Anne, as it sounds like your balance is sometimes a bit off. This also might explain the post clubbing connection. This would tie in with sinus problems - the eye is surrounded by sinuses which is why often trouble with them manifests itself as pain round the eye.

Best to get back to the GP and get this all checked out!

Anne

All the best. If painkillers work in the short term, that is fair enough. If they don't or if the pain persists get back to the doc and make a point of seeing him.

Does anyone ever get the 'aura' of a migraine [bright white & flashing lights/zig zags] but without the migraine?

I do now. This and the dizziness are all that continues of what was once a crushing experience. thankfully, I no longer get the pain.
