"Mum what does a cornea look like?" from Charlotte
Random things to do at breakfast - when your daughter asks what a donor cornea looks like and you find yourself cutting a tiny round piece off a roll of clingfilm for her to look at and touch and you hope that its about right because you've not ever seen a cornea before

Good news on the recovery.
You need totake Charlotte to your local butcher and ask for a couple of bulls eyes and take them home to disect
Below are the Pentacam scans of my grafts taken in 2011, right graft then was 22 years and the left was just getting ready to celebrate its 21st birthday. When these were taken I had already been seeing through someone elses corneas for longer than I had seen out of my own and both grafts are still going strong!
You can see that it appeasr i am looking up but that is just the orientation of the picture, but you can clearly see a white vertical line which is the scar tissue where the graft joins to the old cornea. "New" cornea is highlighted with a red line on top and a green line below as this was used by the consultant to get an idea of how thick the graft is. The horizontal line is the iris and the smudge like a bowl with the yellow line on top is the lens of the eye.

Hope this helps and please pm me with your email if you would like a larger image to show Charlotte.
