Needing advice

Hello
I am new to this online forum, although came to the scottish group quite a few years ago.
I am diagnosed with kerataconus although nothing is progressing very fast. I have moved house into the west of Glasgow, and now need to find a new optician as I am due an eye test and struggling with my glasses.
Can anyone recommend an optician in the west end of Glasgow who understands and has experience with kerataconus? When I was first diagnosed I had some unhelpful experiences and it was through the Scottish group that I was put in touch with someone then.
All suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks.

Hi Jo,
I don't know if you're at the stage where contact lenses would give you better vision. If so, then ask your GP to refer you to Gartnavel Hospital where there is a good contact lens department and a good corneal department in the eye clinic. If you first want to see whether better glasses would still do the trick, then have a look at the list of KC friendly optometrists on the home page of this site www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/optoms/index/php where you'll find several practitioners in Glasgow. Good luck!
Anne

Thanks Anne. I tried lenses for well over a year, but my eyes are dry and they were quite painful and kept falling out! I will see what the optician suggests next.
