Hi there

i am new to this forum and would like some advice, i am 27 and have had KC since i was 21, i am managing well using a RGP lens in my good eye, abit weird but seems to give me good vision, my right eye is my good eye and generally vision is fairy good without a contact in this eye, my left eye is very bad, i struggle to see anything with this eye, i am awaiting a contact fitting appointment for a new lens in my left eye. I have a consultation with the midland eye clinic in October for cross linking, can anyone provide any advice? i currently work in HR and rely on my good eye to see, if i was to have cross linking how long would i be out of action etc for and is cross linking worth doing?

Thanks

Can give you general advice but I can share my own experience with you.

I had my right eye CXL about 14 months ago. Was no use to anyone for about 3 days as in a bit of pain and very sensitive to light. Went back to working day 4, vision was back to where it had been pre CXL by about 3 weeks and started wearing lenses again in about a month. Now vision is a little better than pre CXL but it seems to have definitely stabilised my KC which was progressing very quickly.

If my other eye was suitable I would have CXL done on it too but unfortunately the cornea is too thin.

Hope this help?

Thanks or the reply, did you go back to wearing rgp lens or soft lens?

Both .. I wear a soft lens for 80% (driving, working, normal life) of the time and then a piggy back for 20% (only when I am training or competing and need super good vision)
