First refractive test on graft

Had test refractive test today on the graft done in May. Not much good could only just get the second line. So it's back to theatre to have the stitches tweaked. No date yet got to wait for a letter :( . Going to be done under a general as they can take there time and get better results that way :)

For those that have been following me you know I have had issues with the eye pressure. Now it seems that because the astigmatism is so bad they are not getting a true reading. It seems there are two ways you can put that probe thingie in the slit lamp. One way measures across the cornea in a horizontal plane. This gives a high reading of 28 (21 is the cut off). However if you put it in so it measure the vertical plane ie top to bottom it gives a low reading of 14. So who knows . Averaging the two readings it's still boarder line so keeping up the pressure drops.

With regards to the Dex told I could go from four drops to two drops a day. Bit nervous about that as I am off to Menorca for a weeks holiday on the 11th Sept. Cant decide to A) Do as I am told. B) Stick with the four drops for another couple of weeks, C) compromise and go for 3 drops starting tomorrow :)

Hi Ian,
Good luck with the tweaks!
As for the Dex, rationally going on holiday shouldn't make any difference to how your graft behaves. But if you're worried, could you ring the clinic to check what they advise re your trip?

Hi Anne

More concerned about if the risk of rejection is greater as you reduce down the drops. Don’t want anything kicking off while I am away. I guess they are a bit of a security blanket. But I know there are side effects being on them for an extended period. Going with the 3 drop strategy today

I wasn’t planning on going abroad this year but I decided I wasn’t going to sit around for x number of years waiting for something that may or may not happen. Got some proper sunglasses and some swimming goggles and lots of books on the Kindle. Think I need extra luggage allowance for my glasses and drops. Sunglasses x1, Reading Sunglasses x1, Reading Glasses x 1, Steroid drops x 21, Pressure reducing drops (A) x 1 bottle, Pressure drops (B )x 14, Lubricating drops x40 . And thats before I put the contact lens stuff in :D :D
