Hi Anna
As you may already know your GP needs to offer you a choice of 3-4 hospitals you can be referred to under "Choose & Book" system. My advice is to find out the hospitals on the list in your area, then check the individual hospital websites for information on their ophthalmologists. You obviously need a corneal surgeon which is often described as "Anterior Segment". Smaller clinics may not have different specialists, so a larger unit would be more likely to have a corneal surgeon on board. If unsure ring the eye clinics and simply ask who their corneal surgeon is and ask your GP to refer you to him/her. If your GP senda a generic referral then this should be directed to the appropriate consultant anyway, so it would be unusual for you to be referred to, say a retinal surgeon if there's also a corneal surgeon available! Nevertheless doing your homework wont do any harm.
Good luck.
