Hi. Just wondering if the systane (preservative free) drops we've been using for Charlotte are indeed the best we can use. I realise we prob can't be seen to be advertising on this forum but I was wondering if anyone on here could recommend any other drops? I was told to use Allergan Celluvisc 0.5% w/v by the hospital Flippin expense job though as they are nearly £10 for 30 single doses. At 4 times a day it works out at nearly £40 a month. I managed to get a prescription which drops the monthly cost down to £7.50.

clinitas soothe is another one that people (inc me) use for dry eye. Am sure that you will be inundated with the different solutions that we all use. Clinitas is available on the internet so hopefully would be available in Australia

Yeah, forgot to mention that Charlotte wears RGP contact lenses. We had no probs with systane but my optician (at my eyetest although I don't have KC myself, it's my daughter who does) mentioned that there are others which are maybe more suitable for people who wear RGP's so that's why I posted. Cheers.

I use the Celluvisc with RGP ( I also used it when I tried piggybacking a silicon hydrogel & Rgp combination)

I use clinitas soothe during the day and if my eyes have been very dry I use clinitas hydrate at night. I also use an eyebag for five minutes at night.

(eyebag is literally a shaped bag full of flax seeds. warmed in the microwave, it is draped over my eyes for five minutes and manages to soften any mucus plugs that may have formed in on or around my tear ducts, this ensuring that my eyes are naturally hydrated during my sleep. You could use a face flannel warmed in hot water; that would work as well, but would cool down more quickly)
