Accuvision

Postby GAVINC4 » Wed 03 Mar 2010 8:11 pm

Hi all

My first post to this support group.

I have advanced Keratoconus in both of my eyes and have been wearing Rose K lenses for a number of years to combat the problem I have and allow me to have a normal daily life. At times I have struggled and recently have found the lenses almost unmanageable.

I decided after my most recent visit to the optician, to seek additional help to my problem. I found the Accuvision website and plan to visit them soon for a consultation. Intacs and cross linking do sound very appealing but I am unsure if they can help me - guess the consultation will clarify this!!

Have any other users of the forum used Accuvision for treatment? I am guessing the company are not cheap but then again you can not put a price on good health.

I am currently 32 years old and hope to find a solution to allow me to continue having an improved life! :)

Hope other people who have experienced Accuvision maybe able to advise me!

Regards

Gav

Hey, Gav: welcome to the forum!

I wonder why you have not tried other lenses. The Rose K is super, but after I had worn mine for some years, I found that I could no longer cope with it. My hospital optometrist started trying other lenses and we eventually settled on a Scleral which was my all time favourite lens.

Please let us know what Accuvision offer; but be a little cautious. At 32 you might expect your condition to start to stabilize by itself as the cornea tends to stiffen as we age.

All the best

Andrew

Hi

I've had cross-linking done on my right eye just last week from Accuvision, and I can tell you that they are the very best!

The staff are very friendly and supportive, and it's easy to feel relaxed at Accuvision! I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Cross-Linking cost me £1500 for one eye, which isn't too bad - and its well worth it!

Best of Luck :)
