Hi Guys,
How long after CXL one should wait for RGP lenses.
Is 3 month ideal time or more than that?
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Deepak

Good question, but I'm afraid I can't answer. There is sure to be someone along in a moment who can.
All the best

Like Andrew I don't know the answer, but I have spoken with some who have suffered corneal scaring after going back to an RGP lens post CXL because of the subtle changes in corneal shape. Therefore the best person to advise would be the consultant who performed the CXL for you to ensure the cornea is fully healed and no longer changing shape.
I do know people who have started wearing soft lenses for KC after 2 weeks no ill effects because the lens can move with the cornea, a bit like the demoulding process many RGP wearers go through when chaging to a soft lens.

Hi Deepak,
We do recommend our patients to wait AT LEAST 3 months following cross-linking before recommencing with RGP wear.

Hi Deepak,
We usually advise our patients to wait a MINIMUM of 3 months before restarting contact lens wear.
It is essential to allow the cornea to heal and strenghten before taking on the rigours of lens wear again.
Hope that helps
