Well this time tomorrow I should be somewhere close to having my CXL procedure on my left eye (worse eye) done - appointment at 2:30pm. We are travelling down as far as Crewe tonight (seeing family) and then onto South East tomorrow morning. We are staying over tomorrow night down South for my follow up appointment on Thursday than back as far as Crewe on Thursday, back to Preston on Friday.

Husband is doing all the driving (sweetheart that he is), though i may do some tomorrow morning.

I am apprensive about the procedure though hopeful it will stop my KC progressing any further in that eye. I am also hopeful that in a couple of months time i will be able to have intacs put in the left eye as well.

I will keep you all posted as to how the CXL procedure goes, though i dont expect to be on a computer much over the next week or so. Hoping to be recovered enough to use a computer by monday 26 Oct as everyone is off work that week due to the half term, so extremely shortstaffed.

had the procedure done on wednesday afternoon and must be one of the lucky ones as the only pain i have had was from wearing the bandage contact lens following the procedure.

It took about 4 hours in total, thou some of that was due to delays from the nhs clinic that was running late rather than the centre running late. My eye started streaming about 2 hours after the procedure had finished and didnt really stop until they took the lens out the following afternoon. My eye just felt really sore and red, like it does when a contact lens isnt fitting properly. I just wanted to take the lens out but was good until my consultant took it out at the appointment. I am light sensitive but not massively so today, sat here with natural light coming through the curtains and no sunglasses. am sure i will need sunglasses going out later if it is nice. My eye now just feels dry and gritty. I am alowed to use preservative free eye drops in my eyes.

There were three of us having CXL done on wednesday afternoon, though i only really saw/got talking to one of the guys - who funnily enough had exactly the same birth date as me. Nurse was a tad confused initially. He had already had CXL done on one eye and was having it done on his second eye.

I am now on antibiotic drops for a week, and need to wear an eye shield overnight for the same length of time. glad for eye shield, as i semi woke up a few times last night trying to rub my eye

one thing i am not allowed to do is wash my hair normally for about a week, for those who have met me know that i have a reasonable mass of hair, and my husband is away after sunday so i need to make sure i am stocked up on dry shampoo.

I am back again in a months time for a follow up appointment, but consultant seemed happy yesterday with my eye.

yes i am wearing an eye shield at night, thank god. though from my husbands comments this morning he needs one as well - apparently i elbowed him in the left eye last night
