Red Eyes

I suffer with dry eye (use clinitas products), along with KC and allergies and for the last few morning my eyes have been slightly bloodshot in a morning when wake up. I suspect that it is a combination of allergies, dry eye and also crying that is causing the bloodshot eyes in a morning. Not much i more i can do about the allergies/dry eye, and the crying is one of those things at the moment that wont go away.

I have been assuming that when my eyes are red i shouldnt be putting my contact lenses in, to ensure they arent aggravated. Am i correct in this assumption?
I should have been at the CL fitter this afternoon for a check up (trialing different lenses at the mo - same solution as always) so have had to cancel that appointment and make another one for next week.

Yes, keep your lenses out while this redness persists, but why cancel your appointment? Let the optom look at your eyes and tell you whether your assumption about the cause of the redness is correct.

All the best

she has seen the red eyes enough recently :D , and we are trying to figure out if the CL i have currently got fit properly, and it is the allergies causing the redness or the CL? she knows i am waking up some mornings with red eyes at the moment.

guess i am lucky i can manage with glasses, though i think my work colleagues are going to be seeing my eye drops kept in the fridge with the milk etc. Its too warm....

i ended up seeing my optician yesterday due to the redness plus some visual problems. they confirmed that the redness is down extreme dry eyes. she has given me some gel tears to use at night before going to bed in addition to the stuff i normally use. she wants to see me again in a weeks time and i am not to be wearing my contacts until then.

I use hydrate gel at night; it is a clear gel that means that I wake up with eyes fairly well lubricated and able to drag them open.

All the best
