Advance warning of forum - and website - down

Some of you may know that Claire and I have been trying to move house now for some time, and to say that we've been stressed and under pressure would be an understatement.

However, just as our buyer wanted to delay completion until MAY (whilst we are on our honeymoon, no less  then our luck changed :D and we finally exchanged contracts yesterday.

That's the good news! The other news is that it's happenning REALLY quickly - and we are moving next Tuesday! Sometime before Tuesday therefore, the server which is currently running the forum is moving. In theory, it will only be off-air for just over an hour, probably on Friday evening, but in practice, many computers tend to remember the IP addresses of websites, and get a little unhappy until they find it again.

We've prepared quite well however, and the outage should be for no more than 3-4 hours; and I'd certainly expect that the web site and forum to be fully visible again by Saturday morning (if we move it on Friday).

So please be aware that any missing forum will be known about, and there will be no point in sending me an email telling me that it's down (as I usually recommend), as I wouldn't be able to get that either!

Here's to a smooth move!

Thanks,

People may have noticed an outage in the wee small hours of this morning, when the server was relocated to it's final home...

Hopefully, you'll also notice a slight speed up, too. And there's some more work in the pipeline to make the connection even faster and more resilient at the same time.

Please let me know if you experience any problems.

John
