Some postives and answers at last

Postby Lizb » Mon 08 Dec 2008 4:36 pm

Well after my saga from a couple of weeks ago when my vision in right eye went haywire in my contacts and I have had less vision since then in that eye i was back at the Eye Clinic at Royal Preston Hospital this afternoon for a follow up appointment and it was confirmed I have got mild KC in my right eye (was on the January 08 Topograph but not picked up on) and dry eyes but i also have got what the doctor described as pitting on the right eye/cornea. He believes it has been caused by the CLs (rubbing :? ) and i am not allowed to wear any CLs for at least another two months
I asked him about the options of intacts and the Crosslinking trials that are ongoing. He explained that Preston dont do either of these options (which i already knew) but apparently the Intacts are available in Liverpool and he thinks that there are trials about to commence (or possibly have just commenced) in the Manchester area for Cross-linking. He is going to get more information for me on both of these options for my next appointment in TWO months time, by which time he is hopeful he will clear me to wear CLs again.
I must admit to being very impressed for once by the RPH Eye Clinic but that was more to do with the Doctor i saw.
Had i not seen a doctor who had some idea of the impact of KC today i would have stamped my feet in clinic until i saw someone who did. On my arrival this afternoon i wasn't hopeful as to a successful visit as they hadn't even found my file (filed under my maiden name and appointment in my married name) so i was grumbling to my husband before seeing anyone that it would be a wasted visit (sorry RPH  )
I am glad to report i am a lot more positive about everything KC related at the moment, and i am booked in for a optician check up in the morning to try and get some lenses (using old frames) in my glasses to try and get better corrected vision for my right eye so i feel comfortable to drive. I am currently borderline with my existing prescription.
Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

Good news the appointment went so positively, Liz.
Hpe the eyes recoverwell with no lenses for a while and the next appointment is at least as hopeful.
