Hi everyone! My name is Cecilia, Im from Argentina.
I was diagnosed with mild Keratoconus in March this year. After consulting with several ophtalmologists, I decided the best option for me was c3r, since although the KC wasn't severe, it was evolving quite fast.
I had the procedure done in both eyes at the same time with almost no discomfort at all. No pain after the procedure either (which surprised me, since I read it was quite painful when it's done with epithelium removal, which I had).
Up till then everything was perfect. It's been almost 5 weeks since the procedure now. The thing is my vision is not quite the same it was before the c3r, although I can see well, It was a little better before. I understand it can take up to three months to fully recover it's previous state, but has anyone taken that long??

I'm a bit concerned that it's taking too long =(

CXL (the new name for C3R) is still relatively new so 'estimates' about recovery time are just that: they are estimates based on the experience of others who have gone before you into the procedure. I am afraid that my own KC was too far advanced by the time CXL came on the scene, so my own experience of the procedure is based on reading and the posted experiences of others.

The general advice we give to people after any procedure is that, if they have concerns about their recovery, they go back to the hospital or clinic where they received their treatment and let an eye care professional look at their eyes and determine whether or not there is a problem.

Andrew is quite right - you need to see your professional to get accurate advice. However, yes, it can takes a few months to fully settle after CXL. Do you wear spectacles? If you do, it may mean your prescription has changed and you might see the same if you had this corrected. However, this wouldn't be sensible until you were sure the eyes had stopped changing.

I have an appointment with my surgeon next week... but I was a little anxious I guess I didn't wear spectacles before the surgery, but only because I hadn't had my eyes checked for a while... and when I did I found out about this(KC)! I guess after my vision settles my dr. will prescribe the right ones.
I'll keep you guys updated after my visit.

Hi everyone.
I had my drs appointment on Friday. According to her, everything is going well, though really slow. I have to admit it can get a bit depressing. I didn't expect for it to take such a long time to go back the way it was before the surgery. It's been two months already, and still the vision it's quite worse than before. With my good eye I could see almoust perfect, and now... it's quite blurry, almost as bad as the bad one! Lights are the hardest part, I see the same light 3 o 4 times, sometimes its hard to tell which one is the real one.
Anyway all I can do right now is wait and hope it will get better even if it takes six months. =( Although I am starting to wonder if there is the possibility that in my case, the vision will be affected permanently by the cxl. Has anyone had a similiar experience??
I don't wont to make anyone feel cxl its a bad choice, I don't regret having it done, if this means the KC wont go any further. I just thought I should share this too, to see if anyone else experienced what I'm feeling right now.


I'm going to give the full 6 months period to give up on the idea o a full recovery and hope for the best!! wish me luck!!
