hi guys and girls - i have only posted on here a couple of times when i first got diasagnosed with KC in late september. Just a bit of background i started to notice in july/august when i was unable to see the projector screen at work during meetings and also started to get bad eye strain and headaches when using the computer. Anyway everyone at work said go and get your eyes checked you need glasses and lo and behold ai i got diagnosed with KC. Luckily i was covered by bupa at work and i got a consultation very quick but then went to the nhs after the first consultation. I tried to work but was unable apparently it was the fluresent lighting that was causing more problems and after an hhour or so started to get double vision when driving after work.
Anyway I had a couple of sessions with the NHS and eventually got measured for hard contact lenses on november 23rd. I was then told 10 days for fitting. Unfortunately it took 6 weeks (good ol NHS) but the wait is truly worth it. I had them fitted last Friday and what a difference. I can see perfectly and the whole world looks different. I have a little irratation in my left eye but im sure its just my eyes getting used to the lens. My right has adjusted straingt away and i managed to ware them for 4 hrs in my left yesterday and 10 hrs in my right which is a good start i think. Anyways i rambling now so i leave you with one thought..
I thought i new what i looked like until i put my contacts in and looked in the mirror...shock is not the word and im not exagerating...my eyes must have been truly terrible......happy new yr

Re: treatment update - positive
Hi Stuart
So pleased to hear of your positive experience with yr lenses.
I wore spectacles for the first couple of years after I was diagnosed and thought I had pretty good correction with them. However I can still remember when I first went out with my lenses in - it was WONDERFUL.
So carry on enjoying your "new world" and I hope things carry on going well for you.
Kind regards
Libby
