Hi all,
I know that cleaning my contact lenses with tap water is a "no no", but just wondered how I should be cleaning my storage container - at the moment I clean it every night with boiling water - Am I putting myself at risk doing this - if so how should I be cleaning it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Ps cant believe I've had KC for 26 years and still dont know what I should be doing.
Libby

I am pretty sure that someone will correct me here, but I can't see anything wrong with sterilizing your lens containers in boiling water. You may even go the extra mile by adding some salt to the water, and then rinse the container in either distilled water (you can get this really cheaply from the pharmacist) or sterile saline.

All the best

Andrew

ps for the sake of others: never boil lenses. for them you just follow the cleaning instructions that come with them!

Hi Libby.

Hmmm, i must admit i used to rinse my case with tap water, but now faithfully use boiled water, after it's cooled!

I think rinsing with saline may be the better choice but as I spend enough on solutions, I opt for the boiled water.

Sounds fine to me! I have always been washing them out with hot water, then giving it a quick rinse with a little saline just before I fill them with solution.
