When one of my Intacs came out a few years ago it caused some scarring around the Iris. Could someone please tell me if this is likley to have affected my sight? Is the scarring something that will heal in time? Many thanks

I can only speak for myself so don't take what I say as gospel.

I have corneal scarring, worse in my right eye, and I don't know whether this is part of my KC, lens induced or a mixture of both.

Nobody has ever told me that there is any prospect that the scarring will disappear or reduce.

However you situation may be different so more expert advice will hopefully follow.

I don't think I can answer your question dplees.

All I can say is that the vision in my right eye is not as good as in my left , either with or without lenses. There are no specific symptons I can refer to but I think the scarring is the reason why I cannot get better vision in my right eye with a lens, rather than the shape of my cornea; at least that's what I think.

I guess that the answer is that it would depend on where the scar was! some people undergo a procedure called Asymmetric radial keratotomy that seems to set out to make scar tissue on the cornea.

I think that the best thing, if you are concerned about your future sight, is to make an appointment and discuss it with your ophthalmologist. Then, post what (s)he says here. I know that we are all keen to know the outcome.

I went for another eye test yesterday, this time changing opticinans to Optical Express. It was confirmed that the scar on my cornea hadn't affected the vision as it was outside the optical zone. It was also found that the prescription I had been give previously for my astigmatism was incorrect (my current glasses correct -3 whereas my prescription is -5). My corrected vision is now 6/6+1
panic over!
