Hi all,
I am new here, i have already through many of the previous posts regarding this but i wondered if anyone one might have some updated information.
I have been diagnosed with KC for a few years now, and have really not taken to the RGP contacts at all i have had various pairs, inlcuding most recently the Rose K ones but it really isn't working, and i am still managing with my glasses (except driving at night is difficult and i really have to concentrate). To make things a bit more complicated i emigrated a year ago to Dubai so i haven't done anything about it except a quick visit to the hospital when i came back to the UK for a visit, to confirm contacts were not going well and i was done with them. I recently started getting bad eye strain headaches so i decided to start it up again and had pretty much decided on the Intacs route, which had been discussed with me in the UK (but was encouraged to try all contact lens options first!) and i came across the Collagen Crosslinking. I went for a consultation and all my vitals seem good, the cornea is thick enough and there is not scarring etc. I have looked into it a lot and i feel like i dont really have anything to loose at this point and would like to stop it getting worse (I am only 23) and if i can wear soft lenses, great. My right eye is worse than my left but i dont think either of them are too progressed (left shows as a bit of yellow on the topo and the right some bits of red...can't remember exact numbers!!) I am just in the waiting stage now as i have to wait for my health insurance pre-authorization so would like to hear about other people's insight, good and bad, so i can be as informed as possible.
I am also a little worried about having it done here (in Dubai) as the Eye Clinic i am going to has only performed it on 10 people so far (all successful!) but it is very well recomended, so was considering whether it might be better to come back to the UK to have it done. I know it isn't covered on the NHS but fortunately my health insurance will cover 80% of it if i have it in the UK and of course i don't mind paying more if i am getting someone more experienced, i really do NOT want to mess up my eyes? What do you think?
Anyway, sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any replies.

I think that I'd ask them what they counted as a successful outcome; only 10 cases so far is hardly a great deal of experience. That said, everybody has to start somewhere.
Whatever you decide to do, we wish you well.
I have a cousin who lives in Dubai, at least for part of the year.
