Charges for eye tests

I had an eye test about 3 months ago - 1 month after I had my Intac fitted. I have just called vision express to book an eye check up, since I believe my vision has change and have been told that I'm going to have to pay for a complete new eye test. Is this usually the case? I've had my vision checked several times in a year before and only ever had to pay for one test.

This is one of those stories where it really does matter where in the UK you live. In Scotland (I am not sure about Wales and Northern Ireland) all eye tests are free.

I'd be interested to know the answer to your question, though. I guess that there must be a standard laid down somewhere, or is it also a case that it depends on your local PCT?

I don't pay for my eye tests due to my complex prescription!!

Mmm, I've not had to pay for any of my repeat tests (Tax Credit exemption) as on each occasion they told me that because the prescription had changed a new test was medically necessary.

In England, eye exam charges can be quite complicated...

To answer you properly I need more info!! Do you normally pay for your eye examinations or are you eligible for NHS exams?
