Post graft 7 months and just set myself back to the beginnin

Well, I was doing really well with my graft healing.
Then on Sunday morning, in what must be the state between asleep and awake, I punched myself HARD in my grafted eye.
There was no pain, but when I opened the eye water gushed out and I found something on my pillow.
Presuming it to be the cornea we stored it and rushed to eye casualty where I had the graft.
It turns out I had hit myself so hard I had detached the lens in my eye (the part behind the iris). My graft obviously split and the lens came through the gap!
We now have to wait for the graft to heal (they think it will be ok, just!) and then try and see if I can tolerate a contact lens. If not I will have to have a further op (not sure if you have a lens transplant or if they put a "false" one in).
Feeling VERY down

Ouch, ouch, ouch!

I really feel for you, Craig.
I suppose they'll insert an artificial lens, as they would do if you were having a cataract op. Do let us know how you get on.

You must have hit yourself very hard to detach your lens and split your graft. What did the ophthalmologist do when you saw them? So you're saying the wont operate on your lens if you dont get suitable vision through a contact lens after your graft heals? I'd have thought they would restitch the graft and maybe sometime soon fit you with an IOL

No, they will fit a lens implant but only as a last resort.
First they will wait for the graft to heal. Then they will try and just fit a contact lens on top of that. If that's nut sufficient, then they will put an implant in.
In bad light coniditions I get swirls in front of my eye (the easiest way I can describe it is similar to how a lava lamp looks). I'm hoping that clears up soon!
My usual surgeon/consultant is back next week, so will know more then. (I'm not saying the other was no good for one minute, it's just my usual one is apparently one of the top ones in the country)
I don't think they believe I hit myself, but hand on heart it is true!! I have never had a fight in my life but think in any other circumstance it would have been a left hook to be proud of!

In terms of ops, I guess a lens implant is not THAT major after having two (or is it 1.5?!) grafts.
Hope they strap your head,as I struggle to keep still when being examined at the best of times.
