Newly diagnosed!

Postby bungle » Tue 24 Jul 2007 10:08 pm

Hello,
This is my first post!
I have recently been diagnosed. I was told by my optician that i wouldn't need any extra care and to just have a regular 2 yearly eye test. My condition isn't too severe and only 1 eye is affected but having read around I'm wondering whether i need a refferal to an eye specialist or any further care? I dont want my condition to worsen by not getting adequate treatment early on!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I think I would want more frequent eye tests than every 2 years, do you wear glasses? I was only refered to my hospital once I had reached the stage where I needed lenses. But I had eye tests every 2 months until then.

Yeah, I think I would want more frequent check ups, like maybe annually or more frequent. It is a progressive condition after all. That said, I do not think the care or lack of care will in itself cause the condition to worsen.
