Interesting day...

Hi all,
As many of you know I've not been having an easy time with my lenses recently - I am currently only wearing one in my left eye and throughout my time wearing them, I've never really gained a great fit.
To top things off, the lenses I get most comfort with - SoftPerms are the lenses that most KC professionals fit as a last resort because of their low oxygen permeability (leading to increased risk of blood vessels encroaching onto the cornea and ruling out or making a graft much harder).
Despite numerous attempts to get me out of them (incl. piggy backs, sclerals, RGPS with holes, different materials etc.) I still can only tolerate soft perms.
So it was with some delight that today I got put on the waiting list for intacs in my right eye. After hearing the presentations on Saturday I know what I'm up for and now can't wait!
It turned into an interesting day too as I had my first topography (woah, one look at those and I knew I really do have KC! - what Ken Pullum would probably call a droopy boob!), a test to check the thickness of my cornea at several points and then a standard eye test.
It'll be a while before I go under the knife but I just had to come on and show a smile
sometimes things go the right way!
Ed
