Donna,

The only advice I can offer is;

1) Relax - putting lenses in and out is not a race.

2) Listen carefuly to what the optom says.

3) Any problems carefuly explain them especially if you are finding it hard.

4) Take notes if possible on what the optom says about cleaning and using your lenses.

5) Once you have your lenses, keep a diary of how you get on with them. Make it detailed, o if a lens irritates eleberate is it on the eye lid cornea, what position, type of discomfort. Make sure to record when you had a good result and what you did.

This helps optom to understand any fit issues and also for you looking at the positives helps boost moral.

Good luck Donna.

Gareth is absolutely right, as usual.

Once you have been shown how to put the lenses in and take them out, you may find that you prefer to do this yourself when attending future clinics; I do. Don't be afraid to tell the optometrists if this is the case.

I love my lenses! They are so comfy I had to make myself remove them! The optom said they are a very good fit and that I should wear them for 2hours today 4 tomorrow etc I really did not want to take them out,
He gave me a bottle of Alcon PH multi purpose stuff so no need for seperate cleaners etc.
I cant believe how good my vision is with the lenses! they are now my treasured possesion :D Cant wait for tomorrow to put them back in !

Good news Donna,

Just make sure you wear them sensibly and that means the getting used to them stage.

It is because we can see so well with them that it is very easy to over wear them one day b y a few hours and pay the price by being unable to wear them for the next couple.

Slow and steady as they say :lol:

It was so tempting to leave them in! I really had to make myself remove them. It was the thought of not being able to wear them tomorrow that swung it :) My eyes feel ok, my left is a little sore but I had a job getting the lens out of that eye and I dont think poking myself in the eye with the plunger helped lol
How do you cope mentally with the reduced vision once the lenses are out? Its very frustrating right now, knowing how good my vision was for those few hours and now I am having a job typing this.
