Hi
How long did this last? And did you have any other symptoms? Did it affect both eyes? It sounds very much as if it could be Migraine - certainly this is what happens when I get a migraine, and I usually feel "out of sorts" before during and after. The "wavy" process can last anytime from a few minutes, to half an hour or so.

But I'd get it checked out with your GP or optician asap.

Take care
Pat

strange visual phenomenon

I get migraines too, and what you describe does sound mighty like the visual disturbances I get at the beginning (used to be followed by headaches from hell, but now fortunately stops at the strange visual symptoms). But as Pat says, get it checked out. I'd never trust a web diagnosis!

thanks everyone. yeh it was probably a migraine, but ive never had anything like that before. it was scary cos it engulfed my whole field of vision in my left eye pretty much rendering me blind for a few minutes  .

Yup, sounds like a migraine to me too. BUT if you are still worried go to see your GP. Just because you describe something that is similar to our experience of migraines it does not follow that you were having migraine related symptoms.

All the best

I've had this too, but I get the aura without the headache! I was so worried I got checked for glaucoma but it was fine
