Greetings All!! Before I hit the "paste" button, let me tell you that things have calmed down a bit here and aside from some bruising, all is well. But, this is the outcome from my second graft:

Some of you have been keeping up with my recent eye surgeries. To bring all of you up to date, here is the synopsis. On april 10 i had an acrylic lens installed in my right eye. Then, on April 19 I had more major surgery, including a new acrylic lens placed in the left eye and a transplanted donor tissue corneal graft , a DEEP ANTERIOR LEMELLAR KERATOPLASTY.

There was a complication in the process of the transplant and the topmost layer of my tissue and the lower layer of the donor tissue did not bind in one portion . Leaving surgery, sound asleep, I had an air bubble in my eye, to help force the tissues together as long as I keep my head back for a few days. This process failed and today, April 23, the decision was made to “overfillâ€

Sounds quite traumatic and as ever you tell us of procedures to the eye that I for one have never heard off.

Just think, once all this sorts out and things settle down, youll be looking back at thinking....SHHHEEEESSHHH!!

Scary! I hve never heard of a DALK failing to bond like this. Is this a common outcome?

Thanks for posting, Piper; and I'm VERY glad that things have calmed down again.

As Gareth posted, your postings are always informative, usually incredibly positive things; an inspiration to many, I'm sure. I truly hope that this is the end of the only negative experience you'll ever have.

You all are simply too nice.......I am always supported here, even when things go sour.......and you understand what is happening better than the general public, possibly better than some doctors.

At this point, my new graft is scratchy feeling.....but normal.....and everything looks fuzzy....but normal.......and I need a nap and would like a beer.....and those are normal too!!

The craziest thing is that my right eye, graft number one last October, with the new lens last month, is refusing to focus close on anything, and so I am wearing a magnifying visor at work. And, the light sensitivity in both eyes is stunning in this Deep Southern USA sunshine. Maybe I should spend a month in London and enjoy some overcast skies!!

I'll try to post a picture of my continuous stitch ASAP.

Afraid the past couple weeks you'd be lucky to find overcast skies. In the midlands the sky has been clear blue from mid morning till it cools late at night.

So even over here you would have to go nocturnal.

I can't say anything about the weather in London, but in Port Glasgow (west central Scotland) the weather has been fabulous.

It is a little grey this morning, but I think the cloud will burn off by lunch time. I wear my industrial strength sunglasses: I know they wouldn't be legal for driving, but as I have not yet heard back from the DVLA (driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority) after my most recent ophthalmological adventures, I am not too worried about that.

Posted the above at 0925. It is now 0957 and the sun has burned through the light cloud covering, so that we are set for another glorious day in these northern climes!
