I just got in from an excellent meeting of the Scottish Group. Bernie Hegarty, one of an expert team of Optometrists at Gartnavel Hospital, gave an informative and lucid address.
She spoke about the different contact lens options for the management of keratoconus, stressing the advantages and disadvantages of each. She explained why the RGP corneal was stil the most popular lens; providing as it does good correction to vision and healthy oxygenation of the cornea.
She touched on each type of lens and spoke about some of the problems fitting KC eyes with lenses.
We missed some of the regulars, but it was a great opportunity to hear about developments in lenses and materials.
Thanks, Elizabeth , for another great meeting.
