read that only a select few are able to have intacts

it states only mild cases or kerataconus can have these....how do i know how serious mine is?the doctor has never said!i have it in both eye the right worse than the left,before kerataconus was a little short sighted,i wear the big hard lenses (someone described um as soup bowls)whhat are my chances of bein able to have these?

p.s my dream is to wear glasses it would sort alot of my problems,do intacts allow this?

The determining factor if you can have intacs is not just how advanced your KC is, but also how central the KC cone is, all in the presentation. Those who have had intacs will share their experiences too.

I wear contacs and my KC is on the lower end of the sever scale, but with glasses I can just pass the driving standard in my right eye which is the worst. My periferal vision is distorted which I am getting used to because if I walk round too much with glasses I get motion sickness, so who knows you could try for glasses now.

My vision has been stable for nearly 3 years and back then I was told I would not be able to wear glasses again, but after a post here about glasses I asked if we could have a go.

Any surgical intervention for KC is aimed at providing a surface which allows for easier vision correction and by this the specialists mean vision correction with either glasser or contact lenses so there are no guarentees that you will escape the contact lenses after surgery.
