Hi All

Just thought id let you know how i went on with my pre-op, they took ALL my medical history (nurse got writters cramp) did a ECG (fine) took bloods the measurment of my cornea etc and i have been swabed for MRSA.

I was please with how it went and they explained what they are going to do etc.

Please could anyone let me know if they wear very large hard lenses (like soup bowls) i go to the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and where i had my pre-op (centre for vision) non of the staff have ever seen a KC patient with such large lenses and they say im the only one at that hospital that is registered p/sighted.

My consultant has always said im a special case but surely not that special?

luv

Hi Andrew/Sweet

Ive had them for 7 yrs and for the whole 7 yrs they have caused me grief but in a funny way i accepted them as my eyes and they became comfy but i am always having to take them out and re-fill them with saline could be upto 40 times a day it did p**s me off and i really did want to take a hammer to them at times :x but i just thought about the sight they gave me and calmed down.

The hospital have said they dont know how ive managed with them over the yrs.

Having my 1st graft done soon i can now say ive nearly won the battle of the lenses

luv

Yes sadly they can get to a stage where they can't tolerate a lens anymore. Don't worry too much about it though as some people wear lenses for years with no problems at all! The members posting here are normally the ones who have problems and need some support.
