sclerals/redness/re-fit

hey all feels like i haven't been on here for a while! since i got back from traveling in September my scleral lenses do not fit well, my left eye would go pink after taking the lens out (bizzare!) and they generally needed a new re-fit. I'm in my first year at uni now and its annoying as i am really just wearing my right lens (which has now been re-fitted) as my left eye despite having 2 new lenses is still going red after a few hours and staying like that for a day or so. Has anyone had any similar problems to this? My next step may be to have a mould taken of my eye and have a custom made lens, i don't know how successful this is though. I couldn't ask to have a better uni life but its just annoying when my eyes are always tinged with pink, i constantly look like I'm tired or had a heavy night out (well sometimes i am!)
thanks for your help

Hehe Sarah, oh the joys of uni life!!!
I used to have a pink eye with a RGP which is why I now piggyback. I didn't really get on with sclerals so had to give up with them.
Maybe getting a moulded lens will help but I have no experience with this so can't say anything about it!!
Wishing you the best though and hoping everything gets better for you soon! Hehe, have a good night out as when drunk everyone's eyes go pink!! LOL!!!

Hi Sarah
Sorry to read your problem i know exactly how your feeling i am due to have my 1st transplant on the 5th June i have been wearing my hard lenses for the past 10 yrs and had so many problems (also due to my allergies) my eyes dry up as soon as i put my lenses in (sjogren's syndrome) and become so blood shot they look and are so sore.
Do your lenses get stuck on your eyes to the point that you have to spin the lenses to release the suction to enable you to take them out? (that makes my eyes very red)
About the impressions (moulds) i had that done in september come february i was told they couldnt make them, they had attempted to but my eyes are such an odd shape due to the way i rub them i rub them with the palm of my hand (near my wrist) so my eyes are steep due to the KC but flat at the front hence why my lenses get stuck (if that makes any sense).
It would have been great if they could have made them to mould my eyes but wasnt pos but it might work for you, it was ok having it done they put a large lens with a spout sticking out of it on your eye (with anasthetic) and they use a shringe and put this mix down the spout it coats the eye and sets in 2/3 mins and thats it.
Let me know how you go on if you have it done
luv

what a shame the mould didn't happen for you Emma, sorry to hear that. I think i have got a bit of mild conjunctivitis so treating that for a couple of days, i cant get on with anything though, as im sure you'll know when you're lenses are out we are as blind a a bat! I did how ever go to oxford the other week and my optom tried to get me some vision which he did to a good standard in my grafted eye, i was so shocked. Im going to a specsavers tomorrow to see if they will make up a pair for me, im hoping the vision i got wasn't just the after corneal effect of wearing a scleral. Thanks for your help, i hope your problems get sorted soon emma
