Your collective wisdom and clear answers have saved me again.....

A couple of weeks ago I wrote in complaining of an infection in my soon-to-be-grafted eye. That is the best explaination the doctors could make.

Well, hidden in a recent post by......hmmmm.....possibly SWEET, was a mention of chemical sensitivity. I wore my lens on Wednesday, rinsed it with my wifes contact rinse, and had no trouble. Thursday, I rinsed with my own rinse, a different brand, and was in pain instantly, took the lens out, wiped my face all day, had draining sinuses on the left side only, major redness and swelling, etc.

Today, I bravely washed the lens in plain water, good long rinse inder the tap and put it in. Very comfortable, no trouble so far.

Thanks again (and again) for your group genius!! This forum should be required reading for opthams!!

Cheers, Piper

Piper

thank you and well done! It is a problem for the ophthalmological trade that some of us are sensitive to some chemicals or preservatives, while others are sensitive to different concoctions!

I guess 'trial and error' is the order of the day for us all.

Are things quiter on the bagpipe front now that St Patrick is behind and St Andrew still so far away?

Piper,

Rather than risk a possible infection from tap water, I would recomend using preservative free saline.

Personally I feel this carries less risks, especially with an impending graft.

Good to know you found the cause.
