the dark sunglasses im wearing for when we get some sun, i paid £10.00 pound for last.is it best to so to spec savers and say that i have KC in 1 eye and go for better pair. or am i wasting my money! also when i get my left eye contact lens next month will that solve the problem a little with the sun glare!?

I'd get a reasonably decent pair if I were you ......but personally I wouldn't go to Specsavers ...! Boots do a good range - the important bit is to make sure they have a good UV rating, but that doesn't mean you have to pay a fortune - my last pair were about £25. And unfortunately no, getting the contact lens (in my experience) won't help at all - made my sensitivity slightly worse if anything.

I agree you need to get a pair that has a good UV rating to protect your eyes. It doesn't really go on cost. Hoping you get a good pair!

This is quite a good time of the year to be buying new sunglasses. With all the skiiers equipping themselves with new glasses for the piste there are lots of good quality sunglasses on the market. In addition to opticians you could also try sports shops.

One or two thing to look out for. Make sure that your sunspecs reduce glare and uv light. Polarized glasses are also a good idea.

But make sure also that they do not exclude too much light: there is a limit to the degree of light exclusion that is legal for driving.

If you are not too bothered about appearances the RNIB shop is a good place to go (online; just google RNIB).

I got my glasses from Spec savers, they have no correction, just a tinted lens that best meets my needs for moderate brightness and these cost me about £30. Anything that is really bright, I use my wrapround safety glasses from work which cost £9.40.

Both give full UV protection too.
