a question for wives with KC....

i will get married soon and i have severe KC in my left eye and mild to moderate in my right one.i wanna know to how extent KC may affect me as a wife?????you know a wife has a lot of responsibilities to do.so i need your experiences please.

Eman, having KC should not make any difference to you as a wife, you are the same person your fiancee fell in love with regardless of how much you can see.

Are there any daily tasks you find difficult because of your sight? In which case tell us about them and see if we can come up with some suggestions

I am a wife and have 3 children. I developed KC after the birth of my first child. If i think about it KC has made us stronger.
we do everything together because i can't drive so hubby takes us everywhere.
If i take the kids clothes shopping my husband has a sleep in the car while he waits for us The not driving is the biggest problem we have but we get around that.
He always comes to hospital appointments with me, and we work through it all together.
As for housework and home stuff i do the best i can. If i need help i ask.

I cannot comment on the impact of KC on the experience of a wife, but there is one area of concern that it is as well to address at the beginning.

From all the papers I have read, and from my own experience, and the cumultive experience of the people here there is very little chance of your children developing Keratoconus inheritied from you.

There may be a genetic factor in the development of KC (I have my own doubts but others are more convinced), but even if there is a genetic factor, there are other co-factors involved, too. So, if I were you, I would not have any worries about my children inheriting KC from me.

As a father I am happy to say that although I have very severe KC, neither of my children have shown any signs of the condition. They are now aged 25 and 23.

Foe me not alot has changed really, apart from my sight that is!
My husband has to read everything out to me at the momment, run me to work and take the kids to all their clubs cause i can not drive.
He is quite good and supportive but has never come to any appointments, with me so does not fully understand it.
Sometimes he has a little moan that i am always tired or headachey and does not realise it is the KC, i think he thinks im making excuses to get him to do more!
Generally everything is fine. I am managing to work 37 hours a week , study a couple of hours every other night and still do most of my household chores. The kids do alot and tidy up after themselves all the time as well as helping each other with their homework.
I think it affects you as much as you allow it to . Some days you can manage to do more then others.
I am sure you will be fine and yes what are you wearing , i love weddings and dresses.
One of my colleagues is getting married soon but i cant go as it is in india

Eman; I was wondering, what is expected of a wife in your culture? I am pretty sure that i know more about the expectations of a wife in the UK, but I am equally sure that in Egypt a lot more may be expected of a wife.
