I went for an eye test today because I felt there was changes to my worst eye.
I was right, but my better eye has improved, I only just made driving standard last December and today am well above that. I could see a lot more this time.
However my left eye is worse and the optom said the cone is steep and my vision has deteriorated, she has prescribed new glasses with a stronger lens in my left eye and has refered me to hospital, she said I should try Rose K.
Anyone use Rose K? Any info at all would be good!
Next eye test is in 6 months.

Hey there Donna,

No i haven't tried Rose K but have read posts from some here who found them really good.

It is good when our vision gets better on it's own, but sadly your other eye has taken the other route. It could all get better though so hopefully this lens will help you.

After all the problems with my good eye and being on long term sick my vision has gone from 6/9 to 6/5 in that eye! Don't know how that happened, maybe it just needed a long rest free from lenses!!

Best of luck with it!

That sounds like good news about your good eye! Although I haven't worn Rose K lenses, I think you'll find quite a few people on this forum do and find them very comfortable. Do you know how long you have to wait before your hospital appt? Let's hope it's soon, and you can get things sorted before too much longer.

Donna,

On the whole good news.

I have a Rose K lens in my right eye. Basically the inside of the lens is made to approximate the shape of the cone and the front of the lens has the rest of the correction. My understanding is that this type of lens should produce less halo/star effects because the tear pooling between the lens and the cone is less.

I find mine extremely comfortable and the wear time is excellent too. It does sit at an odd angle over the cone, but that is because the cone in my right eye pints to the left rather than being central and drooping down which is the norm.

The lens gives me 6/4 which is better than the considerd norm.

Hopefully I wont have to wait too long to be refered, my GP is good so she will be onto it on monday morning, I have no idea how long I will waiting for my appointment but I will offer to take one at short notice.
How long is it before you get your lens? Does it take long to make them?

For me, once the decision was taken at the hospital that I would need a lens I was told to wait for an appointment at the contact lens clinic. Being NHS this was another 4 weeks. The optoms at my hospital are really patient and after many trys with lenses and returning to the waiting room while they helped somone else an ideal lens fit was found. Four weeks later I went to collect my lenses which only take a week or two to make. Went home with my lenses and built up the wera time ready for a visit four weeks after the last.

Once in the system it took 12 weeks from deciding I needed lenses to the post lens pick up check.

Due to the nature of the work I do, it was agreed between my employer, occupational health, my GP and myself that it would be better to be signed off for this period which is why my garden got redesigned and the rear inner wheel arch of my car got repainted.

Although it was a stressful time for me due to other factors, on the whole looking back, it was quite enjoyable and relaxing :D

I wore a Rose K for a while. when it went into my eye, it was extremely comfortable. I had to take it out to rest my eye after about six hours, but after an hour without it, I could go another six to eight hours.

I feel happier knowing there is people who have had an easy time with Rose K, I dont think I will have to take too much time of work, my good eye is well above driving standard and I am getting some stronger glasses for my bad eye next week which should keep me going until I get my lenses.
I hope I dont have to wait too long!I will keep ringing up to see if there is any cancellations.
Thanks :D
