Eye drops - face rash

Ok this may sound like a silly question.. but has anyone ever got a face rash from using eye drops?

I've been using refresh by allergan in my left eye and systane in my right (the one with the intac). I've used A LOT of these drops lately. I tend to wonder if i'm addicted to them to be honest! lol.

I did notice around my eyes was starting to get quite sore and one eyelid actually had a little bit of peeling skin (not enough for anyone else to notice).

Now under my eye on one side of my face has become a little bit blotchy. All I can attribute this to is the drops i've been using.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

I wonder whether you may have a slight allergy to the preservative in one or more of the preparations you are using?

OR

is it possible that the drops spilling from your eye and being mopped up hve led to the skin drying out? If it is the latter, a little dab of eye gel might refresh the skin. But, be careful with this; the last thing you want to do is get any of it in your eye.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah either of those sounds possible. I don't spill much onto my face though, except the times I decide to drench my eye!

I've been using these drops for mths now without any problem so it seems weird it would happen all of a sudden if it is some kind of allergy.

I guess it could just be a co-incidence and not even related. It's not itchy or anything.. just red and stings a little if I touch it.

Will wait till tomorrow and see how it is.

Thanks again

All the best Kirsten

Just a caution: don't keep this rash any longer than necessary: if necessary, go to the hospital ophthalmology casuatly clinic over the New Year.

All the best

Yeah i'll definitely go see someone about it if it doesn't clear up in the next day or 2.

Thanks again and happy new year!

I have had this recently too - and I used Refresh drops - don't think the cold weather helps. But eye gel or cream - (the kind you use when you get wrinkles and crows feet like I've got !) has made a real improvement - although that stings very slightly when you use it to start with. Don't seem to be getting a problem now I've started using systane though.
Hope it clears up soon - it's not very pleasant is it.

Thanks Pat.

Yeah I would've thought the refresh was the cause also, due to the eyelid peeling... however it's on the side I use systane in.

I figured it would probably sting a bit putting cream on it. I know the other side of my face did when I put moisturiser on, so i've probably got the start of the same thing there as well.

Thanks for your help ;)
