I've just treid to get my soft lenses out and one of them has decided to fold up and get stuck under my top outer eyelid.
Any bright ideas please? (Apart from stop pannickng!) I've tried refresh contacts eye drops but no luck so far. And of course I can't see it now ....can just feel it.
Thanks
Pat

Pat!

Hey there!! Oh dear but please don't panic!! This is not SO bad!

Drops are a good idea as they will rehydrate the lens and make it soft again. However it sounds like you have bent the lens so it is unable to take any solution to move it.

I would try pinching it gently or getting a saline soaked cotton bud to see if i could move it.

It WILL come out you just need to have dry fingers in order to grab it and not to worry. Lenses can't go anywhere, it just needs some gentle help!!

Let us know how you get on. Good luck!

Thanks ever so much - half a bottle of eyedrops, gentle massage and a saint of a husband and I've now retrieved it! Don't want to go through that again in a hurry!

Phew! I always try a quick panic first and then, when that fails to resolve the situation, look for other approaches.

A bottle of optrex often used to give me an opportunity to flood my eye with something cold and wet, so that the stubborn lens could be floated off. A finger to alter the geometry of my eye (pushed through the eyelid) might releast the vacuum that was causing the problem and then (with a soft lens) the pinch that Sweet suggested.

If it happens again you know what worked this time.
