Sinus inflamation and KC

Postby GarethB » Fri 08 Dec 2006 7:55 am

Question for all you lot;

How does sinus inflamation agrevate your KC?

For me at the moment I only have a minor irritation in my sinuses and my eyes feel a little more sensitive in the eye lid epartment in that they are tender to touch.

Bottom line is lens just touches the eye and that's the eye cries enough so no work today, but hey ho at least I have a very early cold warning and get to tackle it before it becomes a problem so there is at least an up side!

To be honest I always found glasses uncomfortable to wear when my sinuses were inflamed but at least they were easier to put on and off so sinus inflamation and eye sensitivity are nothing new for me.

Just cureous if others have ntoiced a similar things be it lenses and/or glasses.

Gareth,
I suffer a fair amount with sinus pain, although this has resided since I do not dive as much as I did. Having broken my nose previously does not help either. Our cure was suck as much sea water up our noses and into the sinus as possible and then blow it all out again. Hurts a bit then nothing! Not sure the medical profession would suggest this method! Problem was if your sinus blocks at depth, it is very painful on ascent, although again this can curiously cure the problem rather dramatically also!
Anyway as a fellow sufferer I must agree, inflamed sinus = sensitive eyes. No doubt about that!
I found that outside the seawater option, sudafed works a real treat. I know we should not do brand names but I have no vested interest and it really works for me whereas the others did not!
The problem is that your sinuses actually are quite large and cover a fair area around the eyes both above and below, hence the referred pain in the eye lids and direct pain of resting glasses literally on the inflamed sinus.
Hope it clears soon.

Taking appropriate medication as we speak.

It is annoying because if I could get to work I have everything in place to do a norma days work. I can do the meetings I need to attend via teleconfence and net meeting.

It's the getting to work by public transport would take 4 hours when by car it is 45 minutes for 1/4 the price :?

Where is my insentive to go green?

Anyway, back on topic, good to know it is not just me. :D

Gareth

The difference it makes for me is that when my sinuses are sore, my eyes water all the time. This is both a good and a bad thing. It is good because they lubricate far better on my own tears than on the stuff in the bottle. It is not so good because I am trying to look through a film of tears. when I wore lenses they were sometimes almost washed out by tears.

Andrew,

That is the problem I was having on Friday, still not botherd with the lenses as I can cope fine over the weekend without lenses. I just walk the 3 miles to twon as it takes about the same time as the bus and it keeps me fitter too.

Only downside was my wife had to drive to the Christmas party last night which on the lus side meant neither of us drank so now ill effects of late night partying.

Dogs were not happy about going for one last walk at midnight!

Anne,

I very rarely drink at the best of times, the longest I have been without alcohol was eight years

Think it stems back to when I was doing loads of racing, clubing on the Friday, but always a clear had on Saturdays race day
