Help me Please!!!!!

Hi everyone,
Just got back from taking my little girl to school, I almost didn`t make it because the light was causing so much discomfort. I had a graft one 4 and 1/2 months ago and the light aversion is still as bad as ever.I was wearing sunglasses(in the rain) but had to keep stopping,at one point I really thought I wasnt going to make it.This is madness please someone tell me this gets better,Is there special sunglasses that help with this?Im becoming a recluse hiding away in dark corners.will this improve after I have my second graft or will it get even worse?I have never been a huge fan of the light but this is terrible.

It does for some, but your sunglasses are they from an optom?

I found the best sunglasses I got were from the opticean as I could get the best tint for me. I also carry round two different types of safety glasses from work which look like sunglasses, thsi gives me three levels of darkness which works well.

In addition my cars have a very light tint on the window in addition to the manufacturers built in screen tint. One of the porperties is that glare is reduced by upto 40% which has really helped me too.

Any good motor factor that specialieses in car audio usually do screen tints too or knows of someone who does, it is not that expensive to get done.

Really sorry to hear how bad you are at the minute. Bright lights are really bad but it does get better over time. Just right now it is hard to have to wait for everything!!

Am hoping that you can get darker glasses so that it helps. Thinking of you ... Sweet X x X

Thanks for the advice guys,I hope to start driving again soon so the tinted windows idea is a great shout/Also do poloroid glasses help?

I use light excluders from the RNIB. they are 'filled in' at the side and polorized. I find them a great help.

We are seriously thinking of having the windscreen tinted.

I'm still learning how to drive, and am finding driving in the dark a big problem- especially when it is raining too. I am also considering the tinted window- Gareth, are you talking about anti-glare coatings like on Renaults?

Also, I was thinking, does anyone think that having a pair of glasses with normal lenses in it (no prescription) which have an anti-reflection coating would be of any help when driving in dark conditions?

Denner, I strongly reccomend polarised sunglasses too- has made my driving a whole lot easier!

My Renault has there standard tinted window, but the anti glare lighttly tinted film makes a huge difference as does keep the inside of the glass extremely clean.

As for glasses with anti glare coating that is a big help too, but I found a problem when cars came behind at a certain angle I got refelction off the glasses.

I do have ordinary glasses with no prescription, but a light tint and those have an antireflective coating too.

Have you tried wearing a hat as well as your sunglasses? It's amazing how much light even a small brim can stop from reaching your eyes.
