Visual fluctuations are very common at such an early stage of a graft...things generaly stablise after around 6-9 months....whereby the eye doctor will\can manipulate the eye sutures to improve the vision

There has been several thiings published stating that lasik leads to KC and this is in patients that have not been preveously diagnosed with KC.

I have heard of one person having lasik post graft but that was not in the UK.

Lasik can smooth some astigmatism, but post graft there can be irrecgular astigmatism. Once a graft has settled it may be that glasses will still not be any good.

The aim of the graft or any surgical intervention for KC is to proved a surface that is easier to correct the vision. So this means by using glasses or lenses still.

There are cases and I was one of them that two years post graft I did not need any sight correction for about 5 years or more.

Before the graft has settled completly post stitch removal which usually happens at twelve months you still need to wait until 24 months post graft before making a decision on any further surgical type treatment.

Above all, tell your friend not to worry. It is very common for sight to vary after surgery, with different readings within the same day, let alone over a long period.

The new cornea is needing to "heal" into your friend's eye, and that takes time.

All the best

Hi there!

Just wanted to say that i agree with what has been said here! Vision after a graft takes a very long time to stabilise and will change when stitches are removed. Hopefully it will all settle but it needs some time!

Take care ... Sweet X x X
