If this post is deleted I will understand as it has nothing at all to do with KC. However after years of campaigning and gathering evidence from thousands of parents around the UK on the lack of educational provision for children with autism and how it is affecting their mental health, today I 'think' we finally had a result. To be honest it's been building, dripping into the press slowly over the last few months. Today is the icing on the cake as today The children's commissioner for England,Sir Al Aynsley-Green, has said it is shameful that the country is failing to provide adequately for children with autism. YES!

Not only that but it was one of the families from our Campaign Group who has appeared on the BBC News all day. We have worked so hard for this. My own two sons are home educated now and out of the system.

There has now been a promise of more money http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/5352262.stm
Cash alone will not solve the problem. We need understanding and awareness and most of all training for a staff who have been set up to fail alongside our children.

Sorry again but I have worked for 5 years to see this hit the fan :D I only hope that it is not a one hit wonder :?:

Well done Carole :)

I have only ever had to fight my eldest daughters corner once, and it was over a very minor issue compared to yours. But i found it very exhausting and upsetting.
You are doing a great job.

All the best

Congratulations. I hope that this can be the beginning of greater awareness and sustained provision for children who are very bright but see the world differently.

Congratulations Carole - what an amazing achievement to get this much publicity and government response. Keep up the good work, because you'll have to keep the pressure up to make them follow through.

Congratulations! Am really pleased for you and hoping that this does carry on getting better with guidelines and standards of care. I know what it feels like to fight for something you believe in, it took my dad and i six years to fight for a medical negligence for my mum but with hard work we did get to court and win the case. I am sure that you can do the same as you are as motivated and hard working to see some results. Best of luck to you!! :D
