Went to my opti wotsit last week.
For check on my left eye cos vision from the sheral is rubbish.

Only had it 4 weeks.
She said sight has deteriated again in left eye.
Not only that i have to give the lens back to be sent off again.

How do they expect me to look after my kids when they keep leaving me lens less.?

Also i find this one eye sight rather irritating, its wierd.
Im so darn tired with it it.
Sometimes i wish the sight would just go as bad as its gonna and be done with it.At least id know where im at then.

sorry to hear you are so down. What is sheral?

Trace must have been on the and meant to write Scleral.

When I was having len fit issues back end of last year, it took me a month or so to get used to seeing out of one eye and then the other. Now it makes no ods at to which eye has a lens in.

Not easy with kids, but hopefully once they are back at school you will have more time to adapt to just seeing out of the one eye.

I know how you are feeling.
I have started many topics with the title "Fed Up"
I have been Three years now with the same glasses that do nothing. I have been trying lenses and i am trying scleral lenses at the moment. They are not going great!
It is such hard work looking after kids. Sometimes i would love to say i am having a bad eye day and take the day off but i can't.

Trying to get used to a lens when you have three kids at home on summer holidays is really hard. And to top it all i was meant to have a graft on the 18th september and its not going ahead now AND I WANT IT!!

I get really tired sometimes just through being so frustrated looking after the kids and having to watch them all the time.
I very rarely stay up past nine these days because i am sooo tired by the end of the day.

I realise all this isn't going to cheer you up much but i do fully understand how you feel.

oh thanks Gareth. Is a Sceral a different type of lens?

Scleral is bigger than a corneal lens which at its largest covers the whole of the coloured area of the eye.

A scleral covers the whites (Sclera)of the eyes too hence scleral lens.

I used to wear a scleral lens, and sometimes thought of other ways of spelling scleral ...

Seriously, all the best with this. Yes, we do sometimes have quite rapid changes in our lens prescription; all part of the price of belinging to this little band of short-sighted people! We know how it feels, and recognize our own experience in an occasional rant. The day you can't unload here will be a sad day for us all.

There is a great description of scleral lenses (and some good photos too) on Ken Pullum's site.

Many of us find sclerals much more comfortable than standard RGP lenses, despite their size, although some people just don't get on with them.

I'll have a look. I find RGP's ok but sometimes I can actually feel the edge rubbing on my eye lid which hurts a bit.

Probably mentioned this before, but lubricating eye drops I find help alot with that. It usually happens when I am tierd to if possible out comes the lenses and in go the drops and I don't bother with the lenses until the next morning.
