G'day all, another newie on the block..
My story is I've had KC in the left eye, diagnosed about 5-6 years ago. From what I've read elsewhere on the forums my case appears fairly mild, still have pretty good vision just with glasses & soft contacts.
I have an appointment tomorrow with a KC specialist so I think I'm getting a bit of nervous anticipation as to what options may be available to me. I dont want to do RGP's again, could not stand them when I first got diagnosed.
Its been interesting reading the stories on here, with Intacs, C3R etc. so maybe one of those avenues might be the thing for me.

Theres no doubting this is an interesting, albeit frustrating problem we have with our eyesite. But its good and comforting to know that a forum like this is available.

Welcome to the forum.

Lens design is constantly changing and for mild cases of KC a soft lens (Kerasoft is one) helps many. RGP lens design has changed loads. When I first has them 20 years ago they were really uncomfortable. Now I am back on them, most of the time they are really comfortable but I do use lubricating eye drops which improve comfort too.

Intacts are reversable, C3R is not but most here would recomend trying all the lens options before trying anytype of surgery as there are still no garantees they will work either but you have to wait longer to find out.

Welcome also. Our numbers are swelling at the moment. This forum is really helpful for new guys like us because we can ask all those rookie questions and be taken seriously and sympathetically.

Yup, welcome from me, too!

The important thing in all this is that you have to know that YOU are in charge of your treatment.

Ask questions. If you don't get an answer, ask again. It may be that one of the new treatments will suit you, or one of the vast range of lens types, styles and materials will be right for you.

Each of us is different. As you navigate your way through the labyrinth, draw from the experience of others, but remember they are also unique and not identical to you!
