Eye much worse after crosslinking

Postby Guy2015 » Tue 26 Apr 2016 4:38 pm

I had crosslinking done a few weeks ago and my vision is now much worse. I am worryed it is not the usual haze becasue I have have become MUCH more nearsighted and see perfect when objects are very close to me - which to me sounds like a worsening of kerataoconus and not usual haze?

Is this normal after epi off crosslinking.

I have found some information:

"A BETTER WAY OF HEALING?
The epi-on, epi-off debate

In each of these studies, patients actually appeared worse at one month postoperatively, with somewhat steeper cones and worse vision — a reflection of the clinical time course of CXL. Specifically, we found that patients develop haze that peaks at one month after surgery, plateaus at three months and significantly decreases between three and 12 months.10

The haze likely occurs because of keratocyte apoptosis and repopulation as well as changes in the microstructure of the collagen lamellae and glycosaminoglycans. The topography and vision changes early in the clinical time course of CXL likely are related to the healing and remodeling of the corneal epithelium."

So it looks like the cornea actaully gets steeper after crosslinking so would therefore the KC get worse (for a short time) and could be the reason I have become more nearsighted? But should get better. Has anyone had this same experience? Thanks.
